Edmílson Ribeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cacá Aparecido in the 20th minute. A collision led to Mataruca getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Tião das Neves hit a great ball. Romário Torres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conrado Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Cristian do Vale struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Edmílson Ribeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mataruca. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian do Vale got free with Edmílson Ribeiro in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Apuhy's Edmílson Ribeiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Apuhy from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Mataruca booed when Apuhy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Natanael Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edmílson Ribeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cacá Aparecido, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. With his leg Edmílson Ribeiro managed to avoid a goal in the 38thth minute, when Mataruca's Cristian do Vale fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Edmílson Ribeiro stood somewhat misplaced when Cristian do Vale came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 40 minute. If Conrado Quintal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Conrado Quintal made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Benjamim de Souza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mataruca fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in Mataruca's zone, Conrado Quintal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romário Torres came out of the goal and Conrado Quintal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Conrado Quintal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Romário Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61st minute Natanael Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romário Torres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 64 minutes, Alfredinho Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Apuhy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredinho Torres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wanderson de Queirós took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 69th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Edmílson Ribeiro. Apuhy's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian do Vale in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edmílson Ribeiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alfredinho Torres struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Romário Torres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Apuhy.
