Cleiton Fernandes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 71st minute, Jacinto Araújo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ricardinho Prestes. The goal made the score 1-7. When Jacinto Araújo, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 74 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Ricardinho Prestes was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Cleiton Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jânio Fonseca couldn't finish the play. In the 86th minute, Jacinto Araújo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cruzeiro S.A's zone, Jânio Fonseca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jarbas Tasso came out of the goal and Jânio Fonseca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle sounded Cruzeiro S.A left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Palmares AD.
