Jânio Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jânio Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st play minute Carlos Brito came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Dorian Azevedo. 1-3. Ricardinho Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cléber Vianna in the 47th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The Palmares AD manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Moderna FC to win.
