Gerson Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Perivaldo Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Álvaro Breckenfeld in the 21st minute of play. 22 minutes into the game, Denílson Paraíba cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Marquinhos Vidal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 27th minute Juninho Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marquinhos Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juninho Souza took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marquinhos Vidal. Marquinhos Vidal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After 43 minutes, Ulisses Ramos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the vai quem quer and the Esporte Clube Comercial players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Esporte Clube Comercial booed when vai quem quer was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulisses Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Esporte Clube Comercial's zone, Denílson Paraíba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marquinhos Vidal came out of the goal and Denílson Paraíba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Marquinhos Vidal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juninho Souza in the 52nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerson Simões got free with Marquinhos Vidal in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 59th match minute, Esporte Clube Comercial was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Belmiro Barral to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of vai quem quer booed when Esporte Clube Comercial was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerson Simões might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marquinhos Vidal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerson Simões ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 79th minute, Denílson Paraíba made a precise shot to the right of Marquinhos Vidal. Esporte Clube Comercial's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. Juninho Souza struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Marquinhos Vidal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for vai quem quer. Gerson Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
