Mateus Massa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabinho da Mata, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. In the 54th minute, Fred Paulista reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Mário Travassos. The goal made the score 0-2. In the 58th minute, Fred Paulista fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. São Caetano do Sul's defense didn't have a chance, in the 60th minute, when Fred Paulista scored to the left of an out of position Mário Travassos, making the score, 0-3. Mário Travassos was out of position in the 63 minute of play, and Fred Paulista capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fred Paulista really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Fred Paulista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mário Travassos having to interfere. In the 69th minute Fabinho da Mata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mateus Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Fred Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as André de Moraes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mário Travassos. That made the score 1-6 in the 88 minute of play. Mateus Massa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Pedro Torres in the 92nd minute of play. Mário Travassos came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Itaperuna-RJ's Adolfo Cresconio. But to his dismay, Adolfo Cresconio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-7. Itaperuna-RJ played a much better game than São Caetano do Sul and deserved their victory. The São Caetano do Sul players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
