A well-hit corner resulted in Dedê Trevisan heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Teodoro de Godoi might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Acácio Varela. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The audience thought a goal was coming when Inácio Carvalho got free with Gugu Leme in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mundeus succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Sassego had controlled the match.
