The referee ignored Laranjeiras FC's protests and gave Jerônimo Hermes a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Laranjeiras FC getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Jerônimo Hermes hit a great ball. 17 minutes into the match, Liga Palhocense's goalkeeper Rafael Schmidt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristóvão Arce. 18 minutes into the game, Duda Brodel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liga Palhocense's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Laranjeiras FC the free kick. A collision led to Liga Palhocense getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Duda Brodel hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Laranjeiras FC defense, Virgilio Blum kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mazinho Marques. The Laranjeiras FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mazinho Marques should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Laranjeiras FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Dé Neiva hit a great ball. Mazinho Marques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovânio Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mazinho Marques made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgilio Blum in the 32nd minute of play. The supporters of Liga Palhocense booed when Laranjeiras FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dé Neiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geovânio Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Mazinho Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Virgilio Blum had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 48 minutes into the match, Virgilio Blum notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Laranjeiras FC's Mazinho Marques. Mazinho Marques was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jarbas Barreto was the one to do the kick off. After 54 played minutes Laranjeiras FC got a freekick which was hit by Jerônimo Hermes. 56 minutes into the game, Liga Palhocense's Geovânio Rodrigues nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mazinho Marques made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Mazinho Marques made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Geovânio Rodrigues sent off a good shot on target. In the 63rd minute, Geovânio Rodrigues made a precise shot to the right of Mazinho Marques. Laranjeiras FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Mazinho Marques made an important save on a dangerous shot by Geovânio Rodrigues in the 71st minute. After 72 played minutes Liga Palhocense got a freekick which was hit by Duda Brodel. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Virgilio Blum managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liga Palhocense's supporters rose to their feet, but Virgilio Blum was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mazinho Marques breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Tiago Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rafael Schmidt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernandinho Catarinense, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. After 83 played minutes Liga Palhocense got a freekick which was hit by Juan Macedo. 85 minutes into the game, Dé Neiva cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Rafael Schmidt was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 88 minutes into the match, Laranjeiras FC's goal looked a bit too open when Virgilio Blum came free, but Mazinho Marques reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jarbas Barreto took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rafael Schmidt. Rafael Schmidt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4.
