With a little luck, Ponta EC's Joaquim Vides got control of the ball when Alexandre de Queirós tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ramiro Netto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ponta EC booed when Mariri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandre de Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ramiro Netto couldn't finish the play.
