If Reinaldo Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 5th minute, Pedro Paulo Salles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 10th minute Alexsandro Peres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisinho Meireles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Boleiros FC's Luisinho Meireles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexsandro Peres in the 14th minute of play. Goitacazes's Pedro Luiz de Sousa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Goitacazes from getting a goal against them. Luisinho Meireles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexsandro Peres in the 19th minute of the match. Reinaldo Nascimento struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Luisinho Meireles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Goitacazes. 29 minutes into the match, Boleiros FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alexsandro Peres came free, but Luisinho Meireles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th match minute, Boleiros FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kléberson da Costa to maneuver through the defense. If Reinaldo Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Boleiros FC's Lauro Amorim got a free kick in the 38th minute. After having played for 39 minutes, Pedro Paulo Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Goitacazes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Paulo Salles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Reinaldo Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Agostinho Pombal in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pedro Luiz de Sousa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Boleiros FC's Pedrinho Paraense got a free kick in the 58th minute. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Alexsandro Peres took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Luisinho Meireles to make any attempt to save it. João Paulo Dias hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Pedro Paulo Salles kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. The supporters of Boleiros FC booed when Goitacazes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Guedes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eusébio Pimenta took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pedro Luiz de Sousa. Pedro Luiz de Sousa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Alexsandro Peres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match was over Goitacazes could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Boleiros FC throughout the match.
