David Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Arce having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tarcisio Arce got free with Humberto Corrêa in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ediberto Messias kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 19th minute, Dito Arósio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Costa Rica Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Tarcisio Arce hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tarcisio Arce got free with Humberto Corrêa in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 35 minutes into the game, José Pedro Mangueira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Humberto Corrêa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fabiano Marques was the one to do the kick off. Danilo Arce made an important save on a dangerous shot by Betão Tande in the 51st minute. Fabiano Marques hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. After 58 played minutes Costa Rica Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Geovânio Ramalho. 61 minutes into the match, Jacuipense's goal looked a bit too open when Geovânio Ramalho came free, but Humberto Corrêa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Costa Rica Esporte Clube booed when Jacuipense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tarcisio Arce might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Humberto Corrêa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tarcisio Arce ran back to his position shaking his head. José Pedro Mangueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Humberto Corrêa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute Tarcisio Arce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Humberto Corrêa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabiano Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Tarcisio Arce charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tarcisio Arce the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tarcisio Arce kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tarcisio Arce in the 93rd minute of play forced Jacuipense's goalkeeper Humberto Corrêa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Humberto Corrêa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Pedro Mangueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. After 94 played minutes Jacuipense got a freekick which was hit by David Sarmento. Costa Rica Esporte Clube's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
