In the 20th minute José Pedro Mangueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Augusto Koehler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Costa Rica Esporte Clube booed when SC Antares was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. The referee ignored SC Antares's protests and gave Ismael Matorin a yellow card for diving instead. After 46 played minutes SC Antares got a freekick which was hit by Ismael Matorin. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

With a little luck, Costa Rica Esporte Clube's Danilo Arce got control of the ball when Benê Guedes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tarcisio Arce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. José Augusto Koehler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Costa Rica Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Toninho Paranaense hit a great ball. José Pedro Mangueira struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Hamílton Fantini hit a great ball. There was no doubt that Costa Rica Esporte Clube were the better team. Costa Rica Esporte Clube's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
