The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arlindo Félix in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enrique Pimenta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 7 minutes Malhadinho's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edgard Santana who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Carumbe EC's Edgard Santana to fire away a dangerous shot which Enrique Pimenta despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Cláudio Trancoso hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. When Edson Vale, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 14 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Enrique Pimenta was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Malhadinho's Guga Soares got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 21st minute Arlindo Félix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Pimenta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edson Vale who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Enrique Pimenta when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arlindo Félix in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enrique Pimenta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Arlindo Félix came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Carumbe EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arlindo Félix couldn't finish the play. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 29th minute, but Enrique Pimenta got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Malhadinho hanging dry this time. When Arlindo Félix came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Carumbe EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arlindo Félix couldn't finish the play. The penalty shot was made by Roberto Cruz, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Carumbe EC's Luiz Gustavo Matos. 0-1. If Christiano Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience was convinced that Arlindo Félix's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Enrique Pimenta was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Christiano Ferreira to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Arlindo Félix managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carumbe EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Arlindo Félix was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enrique Pimenta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Malhadinho getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Christiano Ferreira hit a great ball. 56 minutes into the match, Edson Vale notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Malhadinho's Enrique Pimenta. Enrique Pimenta was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arlindo Félix in the 59th minute of play forced Malhadinho's goalkeeper Enrique Pimenta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Christiano Ferreira charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Christiano Ferreira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Malhadinho getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Christiano Ferreira hit a great ball. When Edson Vale came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Carumbe EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edson Vale couldn't finish the play. Arlindo Félix's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Enrique Pimenta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Enrique Pimenta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arlindo Félix in the 65th minute of play. Cláudio Trancoso scored 2-1 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Enrique Pimenta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edson Vale in the 70th minute of play forced Malhadinho's goalkeeper Enrique Pimenta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Enrique Pimenta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arlindo Félix in the 71st minute of play. Arlindo Félix took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Enrique Pimenta. Enrique Pimenta dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arlindo Félix in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Enrique Pimenta saved Malhadinho from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Christiano Ferreira got free with Luiz Gustavo Matos in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Enrique Pimenta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edson Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Edson Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enrique Pimenta having to interfere. Arlindo Félix recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luiz Gustavo Matos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guga Soares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Enrique Pimenta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edson Vale in the 88th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edson Vale in the 90th minute of play forced Malhadinho's goalkeeper Enrique Pimenta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Edson Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arlindo Félix might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Enrique Pimenta. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arlindo Félix ran back to his position shaking his head. For all the effort they put into the match, the Malhadinho players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Carumbe EC.
