Gernando Nogueira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Jailson Falcão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmyr Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Severo in the 15th minute of play forced Discípulos FC's goalkeeper Gernando Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sport Club Corinthians booed when Discípulos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fausto Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel da Costa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gernando Nogueira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel da Costa in the 36th minute of play forced Discípulos FC's goalkeeper Gernando Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 43 minutes into the game, Daniel da Costa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Gernando Nogueira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Daniel da Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Sport Club Corinthians were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Walmyr Carneiro was the one to do the kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Sport Club Corinthians's goal looked a bit too open when Sérgio do Valle came free, but Jailson Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sérgio do Valle during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 61 played minutes Discípulos FC got a freekick which was hit by Sérgio do Valle. Jailson Falcão came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Discípulos FC's Walmyr Carneiro. But to his dismay, Walmyr Carneiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Walmyr Carneiro hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. In the 71st minute, Sport Club Corinthians's Daniel da Costa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gernando Nogueira. Gernando Nogueira yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. After having played for 77 minutes, Daniel da Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sport Club Corinthians's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel da Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Discípulos FC's goalkeeper Gernando Nogueira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rodrigo Severo. In the 81st minute, Diguinho Cerezo made a precise shot to the right of Gernando Nogueira. Discípulos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. Rodrigo Severo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 87thth minute, Gernando Nogueira skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When the match was over Sport Club Corinthians could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Discípulos FC throughout the match.
