After 3 played minutes Wellington Macedo rounded Galatius's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Delfim Abreu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Paulo Souto in the 11th minute of play forced Theophilus SC's goalkeeper Arí Fontes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wellington Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Nelson Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ademar de Senna's late challenge caught a Theophilus SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ademar de Senna helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th match minute, Galatius was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ademar de Senna to maneuver through the defense. Wellington Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Nelson Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Galatius's goal looked a bit too open when Wellington Macedo came free, but Nelson Torres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 27 minutes into the game, Luiz Paulo Souto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Arí Fontes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wellington Macedo in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Torres prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Chiquinho Valle hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. After 34 played minutes, Galatius's Didi de Azevedo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Arí Fontes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Galatius reached it. When Giuseppe Quirino fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Theophilus SC's protests and gave Giuseppe Quirino a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Theophilus SC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Giuseppe Quirino hit a great ball. Didi de Azevedo, 37 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Luiz Paulo Souto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luiz Paulo Souto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Arí Fontes was out of position in the 57 minute of play, and Luiz Paulo Souto capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luiz Paulo Souto really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Nelson Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wellington Macedo in the 60th minute of play. Delfim Abreu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nelson Torres came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Theophilus SC's Delfim Abreu. But to his dismay, Delfim Abreu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. If Wellington Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Delfim Abreu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Theophilus SC's zone, Luiz Paulo Souto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arí Fontes came out of the goal and Luiz Paulo Souto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Theophilus SC's Isaltino Fonseca got a free kick in the 96th minute. When Luiz Paulo Souto came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Galatius fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Paulo Souto couldn't finish the play. The Galatius players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
