Gonçalo Meirelles came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Santa Cruz do Sul's Gualter Pombal. But to his dismay, Gualter Pombal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Santa Cruz do Sul's Cafu Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luciano Nóbrega in the 21st minute of play. Cafu Martins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luciano Nóbrega's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. When Tomás Toscano fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santa Cruz do Sul's protests and gave Tomás Toscano a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Santa Cruz do Sul's Tomás Toscano got a free kick in the 23rd minute. After 33 played minutes Marasco got a freekick which was hit by Benedito das Neves. Baltazar Bittencourt's late challenge caught a Santa Cruz do Sul's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Baltazar Bittencourt helped the player get up and apologised. Baltazar Bittencourt hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. 36 minutes into the game, Santa Cruz do Sul's Gualter Pombal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gonçalo Meirelles made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Gualter Pombal succeeded in the game's 41st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Luciano Nóbrega managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marasco's supporters rose to their feet, but Luciano Nóbrega was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cafu Martins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luciano Nóbrega made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Baltazar Bittencourt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cafu Martins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Gualter Pombal took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Gonçalo Meirelles to make any attempt to save it. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Gualter Pombal put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Gonçalo Meirelles. Cafu Martins didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Breno de Sousa went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. Cafu Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luciano Nóbrega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 73 minutes into the match, Santa Cruz do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Benedito das Neves came free, but Cafu Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marasco's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Gualter Pombal 75 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-6. Breno de Sousa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gonçalo Meirelles was a little too slow when Gualter Pombal got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 86th minute. The score was now 1-7. Cafu Martins came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by Marasco's Breno de Sousa. But to his dismay, Breno de Sousa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-7. In the 95th minute, Breno de Sousa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Luciano Nóbrega had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Marasco supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Santa Cruz do Sul's performance. The match ended with a win for Santa Cruz do Sul.
