After a rather tough play, Pitombeiras EC's Adrianinho Moreira got a free kick in the 17th minute. A collision led to Emboscada SC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Rafinha Maranhense hit a great ball. Ian Varela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Paulo Dionísio having to interfere. Luís Paulo Dionísio made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Lucas Ramos sent off a good shot on target. Emboscada SC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Lucas Ramos scored to the left of an out of position Luís Paulo Dionísio, making the score, 1-0. Ian Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Luís Paulo Dionísio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Emboscada SC's zone, Lucas Ramos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Paulo Dionísio came out of the goal and Lucas Ramos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 39 minutes of play, Emboscada SC's Afonso Prestes made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emílio Queirós was left in no man's land by his defense there! Emílio Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sérgio Eger, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Afonso Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Emílio Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sérgio Eger to strike the kick off in the second half. Pitombeiras EC's Kléber de Azevedo suffered a sore thigh after 64 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Afonso Prestes fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Emboscada SC's protests and gave Afonso Prestes a yellow card for diving instead. Afonso Prestes kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. With his leg Emílio Queirós managed to avoid a goal in the 67thth minute, when Emboscada SC's Afonso Prestes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Emboscada SC's Luís Paulo Dionísio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucas Ramos in the 71st minute of play. If Lucas Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th match minute, Emboscada SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodolfo de Amaral to maneuver through the defense. When Lucas Ramos came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Pitombeiras EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lucas Ramos couldn't finish the play. Pitombeiras EC's Emílio Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sérgio Eger in the 77th minute of play. Luís Paulo Dionísio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Fábio Silva in the 82nd minute of play. After 83 played minutes Emboscada SC got a freekick which was hit by Ramiro Urbano. In the 88th minute Sérgio Eger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emílio Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 89th minute, Ramiro Urbano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Emboscada SC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
