Itapiru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zézinho Furtado was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. With a little luck, Itapiru's Emanuel Coutinho got control of the ball when Manuel Bittencourt tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Itapiru getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Alex Reis hit a great ball. Luiz Gustavo Brodel might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emanuel Coutinho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luiz Gustavo Brodel ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Itapiru's Alex Reis got a free kick in the 36th minute. Zézinho Furtado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Luiz Gustavo Brodel came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Sherwood fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Gustavo Brodel couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Vitório Ceresso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itapiru's supporters rose to their feet, but Vitório Ceresso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Percy Vasconcelos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Telmo Sanches stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sherwood's defense didn't have a chance, in the 51st minute, when Telmo Sanches scored to the left of an out of position Percy Vasconcelos, making the score, 1-1. Telmo Sanches sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 59th minute, Itapiru's Telmo Sanches dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. In the 66th match minute, Itapiru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gláuber Corrêa to maneuver through the defense. Vitório Ceresso's late challenge caught a Sherwood's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vitório Ceresso helped the player get up and apologised. Vitório Ceresso hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Zézinho Furtado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Coutinho having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Telmo Sanches in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Percy Vasconcelos saved Sherwood from getting behind. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sherwood's goalkeeper Percy Vasconcelos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Vitório Ceresso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the game, Itapiru's Vitório Ceresso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Percy Vasconcelos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Percy Vasconcelos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Telmo Sanches in the 91st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Itapiru's zone, Luiz Gustavo Brodel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emanuel Coutinho came out of the goal and Luiz Gustavo Brodel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Itapiru walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
