When David Queiroz came up free with the goalie in the 2nd minute, the Salgueirón FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that David Queiroz couldn't finish the play. Emerson Tróia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugênio Arce having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Salgueirón FC's goalkeeper Ulysses Sabóia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cléber da Silveira. In the 14th match minute, Rona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléber da Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Alexandre Tepedino was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 19 minutes into the match. Ulysses Sabóia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílton da Fonseca in the 25th minute of play. Salgueirón FC's Ulysses Sabóia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Salgueirón FC from getting a goal against them. Ulysses Sabóia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amílton da Fonseca in the 31st minute of the match. After 43 minutes, Dário Arce mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Salgueirón FC and the Rona players grew even worse after the yellow card. Amílton da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulysses Sabóia having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The wind increased when Emerson Tróia made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Rona booed when Salgueirón FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ulysses Sabóia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amílton da Fonseca in the 60th minute of the match. David Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 68 minutes into the game, Amílton da Fonseca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rona's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Salgueirón FC the free kick. Amílton da Fonseca hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Salgueirón FC defense, Amílton da Fonseca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ulysses Sabóia. The Salgueirón FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ulysses Sabóia should have stopped the shot. Cléber da Silveira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ulysses Sabóia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cléber da Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ulysses Sabóia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cléber da Silveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cléber da Silveira in the 86th minute of play forced Salgueirón FC's goalkeeper Ulysses Sabóia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emerson Tróia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Eugênio Arce made a huge save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Rona fans cheered their team off the field, for while Salgueirón FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
