Spectators: 6666 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1656, VIP seats: 10) S.E. Palestra Vale's Hortêncio Eger started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind S.E. Palestra Vale's goalkeeper Doni Damião, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marcinho Aparecido hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. When Manoel de Alcântara fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S.E. Palestra Vale's protests and gave Manoel de Alcântara a yellow card for diving instead. In the 19th match minute, S.E. Palestra Vale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manoel de Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. In the 21st minute, Cabecas's Kléberson Galvão ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Doni Damião. Doni Damião yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After 28 minutes of play, S.E. Palestra Vale's Manoel de Alcântara made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rafael Campidelis was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Hortêncio Eger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, S.E. Palestra Vale's Marcinho Aparecido got a free kick in the 44th minute. After 47 minutes of play S.E. Palestra Vale's Marcinho Aparecido was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Marcinho Aparecido kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kléberson Galvão made a kick off. After having played for 56 minutes, Manoel de Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.E. Palestra Vale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manoel de Alcântara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hortêncio Eger's late challenge caught a Cabecas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hortêncio Eger helped the player get up and apologised. In the 64th match minute, S.E. Palestra Vale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hortêncio Eger to maneuver through the defense. Luizão Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Cabecas booed when S.E. Palestra Vale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yan Mesquita didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luizão Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rafael Campidelis made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Manoel de Alcântara sent off a good shot on target. Hortêncio Eger blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rafael Campidelis having to make a save. Luizão Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute Kléberson Galvão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doni Damião saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cabecas's Kléberson Galvão got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luizão Silveira in the 88th minute of play forced S.E. Palestra Vale's goalkeeper Doni Damião to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manoel de Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manoel de Alcântara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. S.E. Palestra Vale's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
