In the 10th minute Vágner Donato shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jânio Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Válbson Mineiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jânio Dias read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Da Matta E.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Thunder F.C. the free kick. Gualter Schmidt hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Da Matta E.C. defense, Vágner Donato kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jânio Dias. The Da Matta E.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jânio Dias should have stopped the shot. Jânio Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Válbson Mineiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. If Vágner Donato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Thunder F.C. booed when Da Matta E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelsinho Vianna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Válbson Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vágner Donato was the one to do the kick off. Válbson Mineiro ran back to his position shaking his head. If Vágner Donato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Jânio Dias managed to avoid a goal in the 89thth minute, when Thunder F.C.'s Válbson Mineiro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jânio Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vágner Donato, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. If Válbson Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute, Válbson Mineiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Thunder F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. If Vágner Donato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thunder F.C. played a much better game than Da Matta E.C. and deserved their victory. The Da Matta E.C. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
