Spectators: 6663 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Delfim Tróia started the match with the kick off. Nilmar Sergipano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nando Domingues in the 4th minute of play. Umberto de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 8 minutes of play, Palhoca's Kaká Bastos made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ediberto Amaral was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Delfim Tróia in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ediberto Amaral prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ediberto Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kaká Bastos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nilmar Sergipano was out of position in the 16 minute of play, and Nando Domingues capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nando Domingues really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. The audience was convinced that Juarês Lara's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ediberto Amaral was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. 26 minutes into the match, Real Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Kaká Bastos came free, but Ediberto Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nando Domingues made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jarbas Souza in the 52nd minute of play forced Palhoca's goalkeeper Nilmar Sergipano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 53rd minute, one of Palhoca:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Palhoca. After some careless play in the Palhoca defense, Ciro Chaves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nilmar Sergipano. The Palhoca fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nilmar Sergipano should have stopped the shot. Nilmar Sergipano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nando Domingues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nando Domingues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Nilmar Sergipano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 66 minutes, Kaká Bastos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palhoca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kaká Bastos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Palhoca's Delfim Tróia got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 70th match minute, Real Madrid was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nando Domingues to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delfim Tróia in the 71st minute of play forced Real Madrid's goalkeeper Ediberto Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nilmar Sergipano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nando Domingues in the 80th minute of play. Nestor Correia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ediberto Amaral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kaká Bastos in the 86th minute. In the 88th minute, Nestor Correia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Real Madrid fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Júlio Trigo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Madrid's supporters rose to their feet, but Júlio Trigo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilmar Sergipano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nilmar Sergipano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Trigo in the 98th minute of play. Real Madrid's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
