Renan Linhares hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute, Nando Passos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. David Ramalho, 21 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Nilson Leão was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Conrado Loyola showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 23 minute of play. Abelardo Senna hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After having played for 34 minutes, Anselmo Coutinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ITAJAI SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anselmo Coutinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 36 minutes into the match, Bebeto Bueno had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luís Gustavo Guimarães. SE Saúva's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bebeto Bueno was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Nilson Leão didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 43rd minute, which inside left pole to 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Anselmo Coutinho to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nando Passos during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. SE Saúva were awarded a corner in the 94th minute after ITAJAI SC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. David Ramalho took the corner. A nice corner shot did that David Ramalho got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Nilson Leão quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. SE Saúva's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
