With a little luck, Palestra's Vitório Catarinense got control of the ball when Durvalino Batista tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 26th minute, Dário Favoretto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rogério Bastos hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute, Ronaldão Toledo sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Palestra's Vitório Catarinense didn't even have to move. In the 32nd match minute, Palestra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléberson Vidal to maneuver through the defense. If Durvalino Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eliézer Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Belmiro Travassos in the 47th minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Naldo França stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Durvalino Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dário Favoretto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Vitório Catarinense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vitório Catarinense came out of the goal and Dário Favoretto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Durvalino Batista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Vitório Catarinense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 71 minutes into the match, Palestra's goal looked a bit too open when Dário Favoretto came free, but Vitório Catarinense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Silas de Queirós hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dário Favoretto in the 82nd minute of play forced Palestra's goalkeeper Vitório Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dário Favoretto in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vitório Catarinense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dário Favoretto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitório Catarinense having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the RB SAO BRAGA players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
