Laércio Sampaio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Rocha in the 3rd minute of play. Dig F.C were awarded a corner in the 4th minute after Apiaca SS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Diego Melo took the corner. After a rather tough play, Apiaca SS's Marcelinho Bastos got a free kick in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Dig F.C's Diego Melo broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Mário Mazza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Edmílson Vides made a huge save. Laércio Sampaio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Régis Sá in the 12th minute of play. With a little luck, Dig F.C's Edmílson Vides got control of the ball when Mário Mazza tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Juarês Paes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dig F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Juarês Paes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Laércio Sampaio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Rubinho Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 26 played minutes Dig F.C got a freekick which was hit by Germano Trevisan. After 27 played minutes, Apiaca SS's Marcelinho Bastos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Edmílson Vides came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Apiaca SS reached it. Mário Mazza who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 29thth minute tested the skills of Edmílson Vides when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Apiaca SS were furious when Wágner Xavier was red carded, 34 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 34 minutes into the game, one of Apiaca SS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 37th minute there was a penalty for Dig F.C. Juarês Paes stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Laércio Sampaio. 0-1. 40 minutes into the game, Elano de Mendonça was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Apiaca SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dig F.C the free kick. A collision led to Apiaca SS getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Elano de Mendonça hit a great ball. After having played for 44 minutes, Mário Mazza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Apiaca SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mário Mazza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Juarês Paes made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Juarês Paes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juarês Paes in the 53rd minute of play forced Apiaca SS's goalkeeper Laércio Sampaio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute Régis Sá shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laércio Sampaio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laércio Sampaio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juarês Paes in the 55th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júlio Rocha during the 56th minute. Laércio Sampaio was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Juarês Paes got free with Laércio Sampaio in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 75th minute there was a penalty for Apiaca SS. Marcelinho Bastos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Edmílson Vides. 1-2. After 80 minutes of play, Dig F.C's Régis Sá made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Laércio Sampaio was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Dig F.C's zone, Mário Mazza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmílson Vides came out of the goal and Mário Mazza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Laércio Sampaio made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Germano Trevisan sent off a good shot on target. Júlio Rocha's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 94thth minute, Laércio Sampaio skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Régis Sá in the 97th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Laércio Sampaio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Laércio Sampaio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Júlio Rocha in the 99th minute.
