Osvaldo Secco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jânio Bittencourt having to interfere. But to his dismay, João Paulo Guerra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. João Paulo Guerra took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Diguinho Veloso. Diguinho Veloso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Jânio Bittencourt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Douglas Mazza in the 31st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Red Hawks's zone, Leonel Paraibano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diguinho Veloso came out of the goal and Leonel Paraibano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If João Paulo Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Romeu Esteves hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match.

In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Red Hawks's goalkeeper Diguinho Veloso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Leonel Paraibano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. João Paulo Guerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Osvaldo Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 59 played minutes Pernas de Pau got a freekick which was hit by Edu de Sousa. Osvaldo Secco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Pernas de Pau's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Paulo Guerra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 67th minute, Edu de Sousa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 73rd minute João Paulo Guerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diguinho Veloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Pernas de Pau walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
