The supporters of Balaco booed when Batel FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raí Dantas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute, Zé Augusto Trevisan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Batel FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. When Marcel Batista came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Balaco fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcel Batista couldn't finish the play. If Marcel Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee ignored Batel FC's protests and gave Cristiano Zanette a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 48th minute of the game. One of Batel FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Balaco:s goal. Luiz Gustavo Breckenfeld had in the 50thth minute some difficulties stopping Gilberto Barbosa's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Alberto da Mata to strike the kick off in the second half. Balaco's Marcel Batista got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcel Batista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 67 minutes, Marcel Batista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balaco's Celsinho Pontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto da Mata in the 74th minute of play. Batel FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
