The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Celsinho Pontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Quintal in the 3rd minute of play. In the 8th match minute, Balaco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Tavares to maneuver through the defense. Balaco's Celsinho Pontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcus Quintal in the 9th minute of play. Robinho Couto came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Balaco's Cafu Furlan. But to his dismay, Cafu Furlan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, Balaco's goalkeeper Celsinho Pontes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Francisco Sanches. After 17 minutes of play, KatimbeiroS - FSCMZ's João Francisco Sanches made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Celsinho Pontes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Celsinho Pontes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus Quintal in the 23rd minute of the match. João Francisco Sanches received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Celsinho Pontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Diguinho das Neves lost his temper 27 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 28th minute, Diguinho das Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It was beautiful to see Balaco's Fiori Mota in action when he in the 29th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! A sloppy throw-in by Wesley Mineiro in the 32nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by KatimbeiroS - FSCMZ's Noel Prata. In the 36th minute, João Francisco Sanches ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Celsinho Pontes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Celsinho Pontes made an important save on a dangerous shot by João Francisco Sanches in the 40th minute. João Francisco Sanches struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Celsinho Pontes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KatimbeiroS - FSCMZ. After a rather tough play, Balaco's Marcel Batista got a free kick in the 48th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and João Francisco Sanches made a kick off. Robinho Couto acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 61st minute, took the ball on the long shot from Gilberto Barbosa. Celsinho Pontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Francisco Sanches, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Balaco's goalkeeper Celsinho Pontes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cafu Furlan charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cafu Furlan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Marcus Quintal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Celsinho Pontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Francisco Sanches, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Robinho Couto made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Cafu Furlan sent off a good shot on target.
