The tension between the Bernardo and the rei pirata players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Bernardo getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Belmiro Mineiro hit a great ball. Luiz Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Edmílson Teles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lúcio Fantini was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Celso Sampaio put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Luís Eduardo Couto. Edmílson Teles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edmílson Teles was extremely unlucky when he, in the 43rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. rei pirata's Luís Eduardo Couto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vito Sousa in the 46th minute of play. rei pirata's Edmílson Teles got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edmílson Teles to strike the kick off in the second half. Gustavo Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lúcio Fantini having to interfere. When Lenílson Silva fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bernardo's protests and gave Lenílson Silva a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of rei pirata booed when Bernardo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lenílson Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bernardo's goalkeeper Lúcio Fantini, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Edmílson Teles came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the rei pirata fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmílson Teles couldn't finish the play. Lúcio Fantini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmílson Teles, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Evaristo Pena during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 69 minutes into the game, one of rei pirata:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. rei pirata:s Luís Eduardo Couto showed great skill when he stopped Otávio Paranaense:s penalty. Otávio Paranaense walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Luís Eduardo Couto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vito Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute, Válter Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luís Eduardo Couto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vito Sousa in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th minute Vito Sousa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Eduardo Couto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vito Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 99th minute. Luís Eduardo Couto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Bernardo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bernardo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
