Mário Jacinto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Oscar Carioca made a huge save. Oscar Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betão Paiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Zé Pedro Leite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wiliam Mandrak in the 15th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Fluminense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Wiliam Mandrak came free, but Zé Pedro Leite reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wiliam Mandrak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Pedro Leite having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Betão Paiva in the 23rd minute of play forced Pirilampo FC's goalkeeper Oscar Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute Carlos Fernando Messias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fluminense FC's Zé Pedro Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Otávio Dante in the 26th minute of play. Oscar Carioca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Márcio Cruz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute, Nico Sá ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Pedro Leite was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nico Sá to make the kick off. Dedê de Senna charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 73rd minute of the match Mário Jacinto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Oscar Carioca showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ramón de Almeida during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 77 played minutes Pirilampo FC got a freekick which was hit by Ramón de Almeida. Mário Jacinto, 78 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 81 minutes into the game, Betão Paiva cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Carlos Fernando Messias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Zé Pedro Leite made a huge save. Oscar Carioca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Betão Paiva in the 94th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Fernando Messias got free with Zé Pedro Leite in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Oscar Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betão Paiva in the 98th minute of play.
