After 11 played minutes, Higienopolis Futebol Club's Betão Fernandes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lúcio Fantini came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Higienopolis Futebol Club reached it. Diego Albuquerque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Walmyr Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Walmyr Valle made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Celso Sampaio sent off a good shot on target. Higienopolis Futebol Club's Fernandão Matorin got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Bernardo defense, Acácio Trigo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lúcio Fantini. The Bernardo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lúcio Fantini should have stopped the shot. After 38 minutes of play, Bernardo's Celso Sampaio made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Walmyr Valle was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Vito Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fernandão Matorin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vito Sousa to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Higienopolis Futebol Club's zone, Vito Sousa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Walmyr Valle came out of the goal and Vito Sousa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 65 minutes, Vito Sousa made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Higienopolis Futebol Club's Walmyr Valle tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Lúcio Fantini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Acácio Trigo in the 71st minute of play. In the 73rd minute Vito Sousa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walmyr Valle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Walmyr Valle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celso Sampaio in the 75th minute of the match. Vito Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmyr Valle having to interfere. Walmyr Valle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celso Sampaio, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 82nd minute, Fernandão Matorin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Walmyr Valle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vito Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Higienopolis Futebol Club's João Vítor Ramalho got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 94th minute, Acácio Trigo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Celso Sampaio struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Walmyr Valle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bernardo.
