In the 23rd minute, Allan Fernandes made a precise shot to the right of Luciano Varela. Pirapitinguy's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The supporters of Porto Alegre FC booed when Pirapitinguy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kauan dos Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luciano Varela made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Porto Alegre FC's goalkeeper Duda Baptista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Osvaldo Vaz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Duda Baptista made a huge save. Luciano Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sílvio Quirino, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.

With a little luck, Pirapitinguy's Luciano Varela got control of the ball when Allan Fernandes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Allan Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Luciano Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Tião Marques hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Porto Alegre FC's zone, Kauan dos Santos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duda Baptista came out of the goal and Kauan dos Santos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kauan dos Santos in the 69th minute of play forced Porto Alegre FC's goalkeeper Duda Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Natã Bertassi lost his temper 70 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After some careless play in the Porto Alegre FC defense, Cristiano Netto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Duda Baptista. The Porto Alegre FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Duda Baptista should have stopped the shot. 76 minutes into the match, Pirapitinguy's Enrique Paraíba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Duda Baptista narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Sebastião Salles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luciano Varela was relentless in the 81st minute of the game.
