Dorian de Queiroz hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. After having played for 14 minutes, Luís Fernando de Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baixio SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Fernando de Sena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Boyd Heathwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edson Passos in the 19th minute of play. Ernani Lucas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 35 played minutes Araça F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Ismael Dias. Antônio Mineiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Fernando de Sena, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Luís Fernando Meirelles had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Boyd Heathwood. Baixio SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Fernando Meirelles was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Baixio SC's zone, Edson Passos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Boyd Heathwood came out of the goal and Edson Passos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edson Passos to make the kick off. After 52 minutes, Dráusio de Mendonça mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Baixio SC and the Araça F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Baixio SC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Dráusio de Mendonça hit a great ball. The Araça F.C. fans' excitement grew in the 54th match minute when Araça F.C.'s Luís Fernando Meirelles looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 58th minute Luís Fernando de Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Mineiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Ernani Lucas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Baixio SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ernani Lucas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antônio Mineiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Araça F.C. booed when Baixio SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Délio Pitta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ismael Dias kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. 78 minutes into the match, Araça F.C.'s goalkeeper Antônio Mineiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Fernando de Sena. If Luís Fernando de Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
