Gonçalo Barbosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernesto Domingues, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Ulisses Alvarenga charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ulisses Alvarenga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Batista SS getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Ulisses Alvarenga hit a great ball. When Flávio Passos fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Batista SS's protests and gave Flávio Passos a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Feirinha booed when Batista SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flávio Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Batista SS's Ernesto Domingues got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 38 minutes, Glauco Dante managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Batista SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Glauco Dante was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Agostinho Moreno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Doni Melo hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. Gonçalo Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernesto Domingues in the 49th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Glauco Dante to make the kick off. In the 55th minute of the match, Glauco Dante tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gonçalo Barbosa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 58 played minutes Feirinha got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldinho de Godoi. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glauco Dante in the 62nd minute of play forced Feirinha's goalkeeper Gonçalo Barbosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Bernardo Donatello fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Feirinha's protests and gave Bernardo Donatello a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Feirinha getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Bernardo Donatello hit a great ball. Ernesto Domingues blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gonçalo Barbosa having to make a save. With a little luck, Feirinha's Gonçalo Barbosa got control of the ball when Ernesto Domingues tried to sneak it across the goal line. Batista SS's Eliézer Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agostinho Moreno in the 98th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Batista SS walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
