The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Rolante's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus Santos came free, but Adhemar Sampaio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 9th minute of the match, Genílson Santana tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rubens Veiga saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Rubens Veiga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Genílson Santana in the 14th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Marcus Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Roda jc's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcus Santos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adhemar Sampaio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Marcus Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Adhemar Sampaio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enrique Brito's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the game, Roda jc's Marcus Santos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Adhemar Sampaio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After having played for 26 minutes, Marcus Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Roda jc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcus Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Genílson Santana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Rubens Veiga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd minute Enrique Brito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adhemar Sampaio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Genílson Santana came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Rolante fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Genílson Santana couldn't finish the play. In the 39th match minute, Roda jc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Carlos Pirani to maneuver through the defense. David Loyola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Roda jc's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
