The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sérgio de Moraes during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of GONÇALVES EC booed when RUNA FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sérgio de Moraes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, GONÇALVES EC's Jonatan Ståhlman dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 26 minutes into the game, Fabinho Arósio threw the ball into play from the sideline. RUNA FC's Washington Seco quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Váldson de Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. GONÇALVES EC's Jonathan Barreto got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Váldson de Godoi made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, GONÇALVES EC's Cláudio Pinho got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Adrianinho da Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Váldson de Godoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Váldson de Godoi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Adrianinho da Rocha made a huge save. Erasmo Magalhães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonatan Ståhlman, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Adrianinho da Rocha came out of the goal and Váldson de Godoi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 81st minute, Jonathan Barreto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GONÇALVES EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Váldson de Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho da Rocha having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Ulisses de Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. GONÇALVES EC were victorious despite being under pressure from RUNA FC for much of the match.
