Veiarnodo FC's Zézinho Nogueira got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Renatinho Lopes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 10thth minute tested the skills of Waldir Silveira when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Veiarnodo FC's Waldir Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charles do Nascimento in the 12th minute of play. Waldir Silveira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eusébio de Castro went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Zézinho Nogueira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcelinho de Sousa was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Veiarnodo FC's goalkeeper Waldir Silveira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Charles do Nascimento put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Waldir Silveira. Veiarnodo FC's Waldir Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charles do Nascimento in the 29th minute of play. A collision led to Veiarnodo FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Dalmo Schmidt hit a great ball. Charles do Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Waldir Silveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Renatinho Lopes took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Waldir Silveira. Waldir Silveira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charles do Nascimento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jonizo's Renatinho Lopes got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Charles do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jonizo's supporters rose to their feet, but Charles do Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldir Silveira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Renatinho Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Olívio Mineiro fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Veiarnodo FC's protests and gave Olívio Mineiro a yellow card for diving instead. After 62 played minutes Veiarnodo FC got a freekick which was hit by Olívio Mineiro. After recieving a nice pass, Jonizo's Wilson Gaspar tried to score from far away in the 62nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After 67 minutes, Nelson Xavier mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Veiarnodo FC and the Jonizo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 67 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Veiarnodo FC! In the 76thth minute of the game Váldson de Godoi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Veiarnodo FC's Waldir Silveira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 78th minute Charles do Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldir Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Renatinho Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zézinho Nogueira charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zézinho Nogueira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 85th minute, Zézinho Nogueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Renatinho Lopes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. After 97 played minutes Jonizo got a freekick which was hit by Váldson de Godoi. Jonizo walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
