Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Róbson Carvalho started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 5th minute, Rubens Mendes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcos Messias. The goal made the score 1-0. A collision led to Taboco getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Ricardinho Batista hit a great ball. Donato Amorim stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Róbson Carvalho's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Costas's Marcos Messias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Costas from getting a goal against them. If Antônio Quadros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudinei Luzs short, quick shot in the 27thth minute got Marcos Messias to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Marcos Messias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubens Mendes in the 28th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rubens Mendes in the 30th minute of play forced Costas's goalkeeper Marcos Messias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Róbson Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Donato Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rubens Mendes was extremely unlucky when he, in the 37th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Donato Amorim came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Costas's Antônio Quadros. But to his dismay, Antônio Quadros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Donato Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Róbson Carvalho in the 44th minute of play.

If Róbson Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudinei Luz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Donato Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Róbson Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After 61 played minutes Taboco got a freekick which was hit by Dieguinho Cavalcante. Claudinei Luz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Claudinei Luz came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Taboco fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudinei Luz couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rubens Mendes in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcos Messias saved Costas from getting behind. Claudinei Luz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Claudinei Luz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Marcos Messias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Rubens Mendes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcos Messias was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
