The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Simão Corrêa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. CRUZEIRO EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Flamingão ARAP F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CRUZEIRO EC the free kick. If Vivaldo Prado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simão Corrêa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Simão Corrêa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cleiton Motta having to interfere. Christian Castro hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute, Simão Corrêa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Sidnei Lira fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Flamingão ARAP F.C's protests and gave Sidnei Lira a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Flamingão ARAP F.C's Sidnei Lira got a free kick in the 37th minute. 39 minutes into the match, Flamingão ARAP F.C's Simão Corrêa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cleiton Motta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Flamingão ARAP F.C booed when CRUZEIRO EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adilson Alvarenga didn't get a good kick on the ball. 43 minutes into the match, CRUZEIRO EC's goal looked a bit too open when Simão Corrêa came free, but Cleiton Motta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wiliam Soares in the 46th minute of play forced Flamingão ARAP F.C's goalkeeper Cléber Sá to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wiliam Soares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cleiton Motta didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Simão Corrêa went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Simão Corrêa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Flamingão ARAP F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Simão Corrêa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cleiton Motta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sidnei Liras short, quick shot in the 65thth minute got Cleiton Motta to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jorginho Campidelis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cléber Sá having to interfere. If Simão Corrêa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 71 minutes into the game, Chico Cabral recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cleiton Motta. Chico Cabral showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Wiliam Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot. CRUZEIRO EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wiliam Soares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cléber Sá breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Simão Corrêa got free with Cleiton Motta in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 78th minute Simão Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cleiton Motta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Flamingão ARAP F.C's Sidnei Lira in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Cleiton Motta was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The CRUZEIRO EC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Flamingão ARAP F.C were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
