Rodriguinho Koehler's late challenge caught a Rifaina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodriguinho Koehler helped the player get up and apologised. After 32 played minutes Barcelona got a freekick which was hit by Rodriguinho Koehler. With a little luck, Rifaina's Claudinei Ferraz got control of the ball when Tostão Neto tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Barcelona's zone, Rui Melo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernandinho Guimarães came out of the goal and Rui Melo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rui Melo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernandinho Guimarães having to interfere. In the 43rd match minute, Barcelona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando de Souza to maneuver through the defense. When Vitório de Azevedo came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Rifaina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vitório de Azevedo couldn't finish the play. Rifaina's Rui Melo got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rui Melo made a kick off. When Rui Melo came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Rifaina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rui Melo couldn't finish the play. 56 minutes into the match, Rifaina's goal looked a bit too open when Nico Lopez came free, but Claudinei Ferraz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 59 played minutes Rifaina got a freekick which was hit by Vitório de Azevedo. Telmo Queiroz was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 60th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Barcelona's Fernandinho Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Melo in the 64th minute of play. Rifaina's Vitório de Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cacá Trevisan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Fernandinho Guimarães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rifaina's Vitório de Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rifaina's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
