But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Adolfo Cosme couldn't finish the play. Jeremias Araújo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romelio Ibaute having to interfere. Narciso Domingues hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Yuri de Castro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Fellipe Queirós made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by César Queiroz in the 27th minute of play forced Holandés Volador F.C's goalkeeper Fellipe Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Grêmio's goal looked a bit too open when Jeremias Araújo came free, but Romelio Ibaute reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Grêmio's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Adolfo Cosme in the 46th minute of play forced Holandés Volador F.C's goalkeeper Fellipe Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 47 minutes into the game, Yuri de Castro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fellipe Queirós. Yuri de Castro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 62nd minute, João Adolfo Cosme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Jeferson de Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. Holandés Volador F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that João Adolfo Cosme was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Grêmio fully deserved thier win.
