Geral Grêmio's Otávio Ceresso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Severo in the 70th minute of play. When Rômulo Magalhães fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Geral Grêmio's protests and gave Rômulo Magalhães a yellow card for diving instead. Rômulo Magalhães hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Narciso Pernambucano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Geral Grêmio's supporters rose to their feet, but Narciso Pernambucano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Miguel Leite breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Giovani Alves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Chaval players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Geral Grêmio from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
