In the 6thth minute of the game João Paulo Camargo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ivape's Enio Toledo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sidnei Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Enio Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. João Paulo Camargo succeeded in the game's 11th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. If Sidnei Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 19th minute of the match, João Paulo Camargo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Enio Toledo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience was convinced that João Paulo Camargo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Enio Toledo was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 77th minute, Enéas Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Germano Meireles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ivape's supporters rose to their feet, but Germano Meireles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
