The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hortêncio Ramalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Marquinhos Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Artur Campidelis in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ismael Loureiro saved Marequeta SC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marquinhos Monteiro in the 16th minute of play forced Rio Guardians's goalkeeper Dé Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ronaldo Garcia hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Dé Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cafu Abreu in the 21st minute of the match. 22 minutes into the game, one of Rio Guardians:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Marequeta SC a penalty, 24 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Miguel Xavier, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Rio Guardians's Dé Saldanha. 0-1. Cafu Abreu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dé Saldanha having to interfere. When Marquinhos Monteiro came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Marequeta SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marquinhos Monteiro couldn't finish the play. Hortêncio Ramalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute of the match Miguel Xavier shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dé Saldanha showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Dé Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cafu Abreu in the 44th minute of play. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rio Guardians's goalkeeper Dé Saldanha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rio Guardians's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Miguel Xavier was slow to take the kick. During this time Marequeta SC's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Marequeta SC's corner Miguel Xavier fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dé Saldanha quite easily take care of the ball. If Hortêncio Ramalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Rio Guardians's zone, Cafu Abreu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dé Saldanha came out of the goal and Cafu Abreu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marquinhos Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dé Saldanha having to interfere. In the 70th minute Marquinhos Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dé Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marquinhos Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ismael Loureiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hortêncio Ramalho in the 83rd minute of the match. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Marequeta SC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
