With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elói Pena in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juninho Guedes saved 9 de abril fc from getting behind. Felippe Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juninho Guedes having to interfere. Juninho Guedes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elói Pena's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. If Felippe Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felippe Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juninho Guedes having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, Felippe Freire left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Batateira fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After 26 played minutes 9 de abril fc got a freekick which was hit by Elder Neto. In the 27th minute of the match Gildo Motta shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juninho Guedes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Afonso Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute Osvaldo Urbano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Luiz Leme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Batateira's Elói Pena got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Afonso Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. 9 de abril fc's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonso Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Luiz Leme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elói Pena to make the kick off. In the 54th minute of the match, Elói Pena tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Juninho Guedes saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. A collision led to Batateira getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Hamílton Novaes hit a great ball. After 59 minutes of play 9 de abril fc's Elder Neto was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Elder Neto kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Juninho Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elói Pena, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Juninho Guedes was out of position in the 67 minute of play, and Elói Pena capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Elói Pena really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. When Elói Pena came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Batateira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elói Pena couldn't finish the play. Elói Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Batateira played a much better game than 9 de abril fc and deserved their victory. The 9 de abril fc players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
