Paulo Renato Arruda was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Leonel Meireles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuno Montenegro having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
