An unexpectedly hard shot by Josué Oliveira in the 16th minute of play forced Vespacity FC's goalkeeper Wilson Prado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Josué Oliveira came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Xandy FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Josué Oliveira couldn't finish the play. 25 minutes into the match, Xandy FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sílvio Galvão came free, but Reinaldo Furlan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilson Prado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Josué Oliveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. After having played for 31 minutes, Josué Oliveira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Xandy FC's Sílvio Travassos got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

After 57 played minutes, Vespacity FC's Mário Batista shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Reinaldo Furlan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Vespacity FC reached it. 61 minutes into the match, Xandy FC's goalkeeper Reinaldo Furlan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Lago. Carlos Lago who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 63rdth minute tested the skills of Reinaldo Furlan when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dorival Alcântara's late challenge caught a Xandy FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dorival Alcântara helped the player get up and apologised. In the 84th match minute, Vespacity FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorival Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. In the 86th match minute, Xandy FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. If Sílvio Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilson Prado dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1.
