In the 13th match minute, Equipe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fernando Proença to maneuver through the defense. Equipe's Régis Mendes got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 18 minutes into the match, Atlético Alagoano's goal looked a bit too open when Gerson Mesquita came free, but Geovânio Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 19 minutes, Hélio Silveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Alagoano and the Equipe players grew even worse after the yellow card. Atlético Alagoano's Geovânio Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Régis Mendes in the 25th minute of play. In the 28th minute of the match, João Augusto Reis tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Davi Tinoco saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético Alagoano's goalkeeper Geovânio Ortiz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gerson Mesquita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Atlético Alagoano's Geovânio Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo de Salles in the 35th minute of play. Luiz Fernando Proença took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Geovânio Ortiz. Geovânio Ortiz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 43rd minute, Hélio Silveira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Alagoano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. 48 minutes into the match, Luiz Fernando Proença notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Atlético Alagoano's Geovânio Ortiz. Geovânio Ortiz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Luiz Fernando Proença received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Geovânio Ortiz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Fernando Queirós took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Davi Tinoco.
