With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Secco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Sebo de Ovelha MZC's goalkeeper Juvenal Ortiz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Guilherme Camargo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 30 minutes, Enio Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sebo de Ovelha MZC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enio Valadares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sebastião Capixaba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 39thth minute of the game Sebastião Capixaba who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sebo de Ovelha MZC's Juvenal Ortiz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 41 minutes into the match, Sebo de Ovelha MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastião Capixaba came free, but Juvenal Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 41 minutes, Luiz Fernando Koehler mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sebo de Ovelha MZC and the Itahy players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 42 played minutes Sebo de Ovelha MZC got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fernando Koehler. In the 46th minute Sebastião Capixaba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juvenal Ortiz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Nelson Secco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enio Valadares in the 51st minute of the match. Nelson Secco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enio Valadares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Sebastião Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nelson Secco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Glauco Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. 65 minutes into the match, Itahy's goal looked a bit too open when Glauco Barros came free, but Nelson Secco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Glauco Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enio Valadares might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nelson Secco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Enio Valadares ran back to his position shaking his head. Guilherme Camargo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Ortiz having to interfere. Nelson Secco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enio Valadares in the 80th minute of play. If Guilherme Camargo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edmundo Fonseca charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edmundo Fonseca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Sebo de Ovelha MZC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Edmundo Fonseca hit a great ball. Guilherme Camargo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
