Marcelinho Zonta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Francisco Cordeiro having to interfere. In the 14th minute, Jeremias Recife fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Osvaldo Aparecido, passed just outside the right post. After having played for 36 minutes, Jeremias Recife managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Novo Hamburgo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jeremias Recife was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Patrick Bertassi charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patrick Bertassi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Novo Hamburgo's Patrick Bertassi got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 42nd minute of the match Hamílton Rossi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but João Francisco Cordeiro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Marcelinho Zonta might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João Francisco Cordeiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcelinho Zonta ran back to his position shaking his head. 47 minutes into the match, Novo Hamburgo's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelinho Zonta came free, but João Francisco Cordeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jeremias Recife to strike the kick off in the second half. João Francisco Cordeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Renan Marques in the 53rd minute. Dalmo Mandrak was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 56th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Osvaldo Aparecido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremias Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 58th minute, Jeremias Recife left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Novo Hamburgo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After 60 played minutes Novo Hamburgo got a freekick which was hit by Evaristo Loureiro. 73 minutes into the game, Evaristo Loureiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Osvaldo Aparecido was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Osvaldo Aparecido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caetano Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Osvaldo Aparecido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeremias Recife in the 89th minute of the match. Novo Hamburgo's Jeremias Recife got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Osvaldo Aparecido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caetano Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Renan Marques managed to get in a good position for a shot. Formigueiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Renan Marques was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Francisco Cordeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Novo Hamburgo had played much better football throughout.
