Spectators: 7231 (Terracing: 5425, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 143) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Giuseppe Saldanha kicked off to start the match. Claretiana's Jerônimo Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isaltino Quadros in the 6th minute of play. 12 minutes into the game, Isaltino Quadros recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jerônimo Sousa. Isaltino Quadros showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Rodolfo Luz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jerônimo Sousa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Isaltino Quadros was extremely unlucky when he, in the 21st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Ismael Prata charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ismael Prata the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Claretiana's Ismael Prata got a free kick in the 26th minute. Jerônimo Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isaltino Quadros, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Isaltino Quadros might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jerônimo Sousa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Isaltino Quadros ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 33rd minute, Isaltino Quadros fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jerônimo Sousa, passed just outside the right post. In the 38th minute, Rodolfo Luz fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jerônimo Sousa, passed just outside the right post. Jerônimo Sousa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Narciso Chaves in the 41st minute. In the 43rd match minute, Claretiana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus Cruz to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the match, Arnaldo Pires sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Jerônimo Sousa threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Arnaldo Pires this time. Jerônimo Sousa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodolfo Luz in the 45th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Isaltino Quadros to strike the kick off in the second half. Van Halen FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Arnaldo Pires in the 55th minute. The corner led Van Halen FC's Arnaldo Pires to fire away a dangerous shot which Jerônimo Sousa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jerônimo Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Luz in the 58th minute of play. When Ismael Prata was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 60 minutes had been played. The supporters of Van Halen FC booed when Claretiana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ismael Prata didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnaldo Pires was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 62nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Van Halen FC's Rodolfo Luz got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Van Halen FC booed when Claretiana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rodolfo Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Van Halen FC's Joel Torres got control of the ball when Sidnei Barreto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Claretiana's Jerônimo Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isaltino Quadros in the 84th minute of play. In the 86th minute, Isaltino Quadros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isaltino Quadros in the 90th minute of play forced Claretiana's goalkeeper Jerônimo Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sidnei Barreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Joel Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Silas das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Sidnei Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Van Halen FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
